Field service · Direct connection · Pro

The caller’s concern becomes a Housecall Pro lead for your office.

The dishwasher will not drain, and the caller wants a service visit. When the call ends, Penny finds the customer in Housecall Pro by mobile number, then email, or adds a new one, and creates a lead with the problem, the address, and her summary for your office to review and schedule.

14 days of Pro, including 100 phone minutes and 300 website conversations. No credit card.

Direction
Penny searches your Housecall Pro customers by mobile number, then email, and adds a lead for the match or a new customer. She doesn’t read anything else from Housecall Pro.
When it happens
Penny adds the lead right after the call or chat ends, usually within a few minutes.

A lead has no schedule, dispatch, or invoice. Your office turns it into an estimate or job and confirms the visit through its normal process. Connecting needs Housecall Pro’s Max plan, which includes API access. Housecall Pro can notify the customer when a new lead arrives; that setting is in Housecall Pro’s Job Inbox.

Set up the connection

  1. 1

    Create an API key

In Housecall Pro, an admin opens My Apps → All Apps → API Key Management, generates a key named Penny with Full access, and copies it. API keys come with the Max plan.

  2. 2

    Connect it in Penny

In Penny, open Settings → Integrations, choose Housecall Pro, paste the key, and choose Connect. Penny checks the key with Housecall Pro before saving it.

  3. 3

Show Penny’s leads in Job Inbox

In Housecall Pro, open My Apps → Job inbox and turn on API Leads, so Penny’s leads arrive in their own channel.

  4. 4

    Make a test call

Call your Penny number with a name, a service address, and a short description of the problem. When the call ends, find the lead under Customers → Leads and read the note.

Questions about this connection

When is the technician’s time confirmed?

When your office converts the lead to a job and schedules it in Housecall Pro. A lead doesn’t assign a technician or an arrival window.

Which Housecall Pro plan do I need?

The Max plan, because Housecall Pro gives API keys on Max only. An admin creates the key.

Do leads go to the right Housecall Pro location?

Every lead names the Penny location the caller reached, in its note. It arrives in the Housecall Pro account the API key belongs to, and your office routes it from there.

How do I know the connection is ready?

Open the test lead and confirm the customer, the address, and the note. Make sure the person reviewing leads knows the visit still needs to be scheduled.
